The electric powered vehicles will combine the convenience of a trolley with the newest train technology. Street level vehicles allow walk on/walk off accessibility. New train technology includes; enhanced safety features, increased maneuverability allowing better access to users, and comfort features integrated throughout. Together, these will create a light rail system that is compatible with each neighborhood, environmentally friendly and safe.

The system will carry 100,000 passengers per day, removing enough vehicles from the road to substantially reduce gridlock. This will create reliable transportation for residents, our growing commuter population and aid local small businesses by bringing visitors and shoppers to the area. This means continued economic growth and an improved quality of life for us all.

The system will be built in at least two segments. The route is shown on the reverse side. The initial segment, completed by the year 2000, will extend from 34th Street in Bayonne, continue in a northerly direction along the waterfront in Jersey City to the Hoboken Terminal. The West Side Branch will extend from Liberty State Park to West Side Avenue in Jersey City. This 9.5 mile segment includes; 16 stations, 3 major transfer sites for train, bus, ferry and the PATH, and 4 Park & Ride sites providing parking for 3,150 vehicles. This segment will serve 10 major malls and shopping areas, 35 schools, 82 churches, 9 medical facilities, and 16 park and recreation areas.

The subsequent segments, with 16 passenger stations, will extend an additional 11 miles from the Hoboken Terminal, north around Hoboken and though Weehawken to the Vince Lombardi Service Area at the New Jersey Turnpike, and south from 34th Street to West 5th Street in Bayonne.

PATH (Port Authority Trans Hudson) Subway Line
The PATH system links Jersey City to Hoboken, Harrison, Newark, and to both Downtown and Midtown in New York City. There are four PATH subway stations in Jersey City: Exchange Place, Grove Street, Pavonia/Newport and Journal Square.

Harborside Ferry Service to Midtown

The new ferry service linking Jersey City's Harborside Financial Center to Manhattan's West 38th Street slip will provide service in both directions Monday to Friday during morning and evening rush hours. The ferries will leave Harborside every 15 minutes from 6:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and will leave West 38th Street every 15 minutes from 4:00 p.m. to 7:45 p.m.

Roadway Network
The Holland Tunnel gives car and bus access to Manhattan.

US Routes 1 & 9, I-78, I-95, I-280, and the NJ Turnpike (exits 14B and 14C) make travel easy to Northern, Western, and Southern destinations. Since Jersey City is at the center of this major highway system, it's extremely easy for employees and goods to stream both in and out.
