Governor Appoints Hudson County Clerk

(TRENTON)Reinforcing his commitment to have a state government that represents the strength of the Latino community, Governor James E. McGreevey announced that he has appointed Javier Inclan to serve as Hudson County Clerk.

“I am confident that Javier Inclan will serve in the position of Hudson County Clerk with distinction,” said Governor McGreevey.  “His commitment to public service and exceptional intellect are unquestioned.”

Presently, more than 1.1 million Hispanics live in New Jersey with the Latino community as a whole representing 13 percent of the State’s total population.  Hudson County is home to the highest population of Hispanics in the State.

”I am highly honored and privileged to have been selected and to be able to work for the people of this county, “said Javier Inclan.  “This is a ground-breaking moment in the history of Hudson County, and the State, a testament to its democratic ideals of inclusion and diversity.”

The Hudson County Clerk serves a five-year term and is charged with the county’s elections process, application and distribution of passports, birth certificates and open public records.

Mr. Inclan, 32, of Cuban-Spanish American ancestry is currently the youngest and first Hispanic to ever serve as County Clerk.   He serves as Executive Director of the Hudson County Democratic Organization and is a Councilman for the City of Guttenberg.
